We are looking for a qualified Baker to join our The General Store to produce consistently high quality baked goods for our loyal customer base. We have a premium reputation and are searching for someone with a great skill set.

The General Store has a vacancy for a permanent and full time baker who has a passion for creating delicious baked breads, cakes and decadent treats. You will be part of a motivated and enthusiastic team. We have enjoyed a solid reputation in Northland for our bakery, and are looking for someone who will contribute to our ongoing success. Our goal is to offer a premium customer experience that is above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that people go out of their way to choose our bakery.

The key responsibilities are baking doughs, specialty breads, muffins, cakes and pastries. We aim to reduce waste, so thorough stock rotation is part of the role. Ensuring that the shelf displays are appealing, and well stocked. There are aspects of customer service when on the shop floor to ensure that the needs of our customers are being met. We are health and safety compliant, so proficiency in this area is crucial.

The right candidate will have: 

• Experience in scratch baking specialty breads, doughs, muffins, cakes and pastries, but ample training will be provided.
• A keen eye for detail.
• A friendly customer service style that we are known for.
• Speed, accuracy and efficiency.
• A reliable work ethic.
• Get on well in a team and communicate effectively at all levels.
